Subject Learning Goals

Leading and leadership is commonly arranged in my professional context, as often shown by organisational activities like campus and college meetings, professional development and training, discussions about pedagogy and other organisational policies and requirements like daily staffing and mentoring. But uncommonly, do we ever arrange or discuss the opportunity for innovation or even innovation as a practice.

After participating in this course, I hope to develop tools and gain practice-based experience regarding innovation, learning and leading. Vocational Education and Training (VET) in my current professional context will need to transform in next couple of years addressing the learning needs and wants for students progressing into their careers and other adult learning environments. Providing the perfect opportunity to develop and apply innovative learning initiative.

a. Critically evaluate key contemporary approaches to innovation and leading change.

b. Critically analyse an opportunity space for leading innovation.

c. Lead an innovative project

d. Critically reflect on aspects of innovative practices

e. Present ideas, results and decisions appropriately using a range of genres

Goal 1:

Discuss the opportunities and importance of a user-centred, learning initiative. Based on my current professional context or community network.

Goal 2:

Develop an academic understanding of design thinking tools and frameworks which will be used and implemented into an innovative initiative.

Goal 3:

Explore different ideas and models of innovation, and use this gained knowledge to develop my innovative learning initiative.

Goal 4:

Research leading through the perspective of practice theory, theory of practice architectures and ecologies of practice. Also discussed as a philosophical-empirical enquiry approach to leading.
